Meal prep saves money, time, and the daily stress of figuring out lunch. You do not need fancy containers or complicated recipes.
Use the mix-and-match method
Cook a few building blocks instead of five identical meals:
- One grain: rice, quinoa, or pasta
- Two proteins: chicken, tofu, beans, or eggs
- Two roasted vegetables
- One great sauce
The one-hour plan
Start the grain first. While it cooks, roast your vegetables on one sheet pan and protein on another. Use the last 15 minutes to make a sauce and portion everything out.
Keep it fresh
Store sauces separately and add crunchy toppings like nuts or seeds the day you eat it.
Prepping even three lunches is a win. It does not have to be all or nothing.
Food safety
Most cooked meals stay fresh in the fridge for three to four days. Freeze extra portions for later in the week.
